Whole Life

I recently read an article put out by the American Solidarity Party that called themselves "Whole Life" as opposed to "Pro-Life." I like this.

One of the pro-abortion/choice critiques of pro-lifers is that they ignore the lives of prospective mothers, the incarcerated, the immigrant, foster and adoptive kids, veterans, homeless, minorities, the poor, the homeless, the hungry, etc.

I hate that rhetoric, because it's a bunch of straw men. Most people can chew gum and walk at the same time. Just because someone is pro-life doesn't mean that they can't be or aren't concerned for any other "life" issue. It's largely a political tactic.

That said, there is a sliver of truth here. With Roe being overturned, there must be stop-gaps and buffers established to help mothers who now cannot abort because theirs is not held as medically necessary. Something like 60-80% of these cases are economic. We need a robust welfare net to help. We need a stronger social aid structure. And we need to consider all facets of life evenly.

"Whole Life" encapsulates this.
