Of Giants and Kings

My thesis is simple: Donald Trump is a giant and a would be king.

Genesis 6:1-6

1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,
2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
3 And the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."
4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

The connection of giants (nephilim) in verse four to the "mighty men... of old" and "men of renown" gives us a definition for Nephilim, which is translated into Greek as gigantes or giants. It is common to assume that these giants were of extraordinary size. Certainly, Goliath was a big man. But the definition of gigantes in Greek often just means "tyrant." Because of the connection with "mighty men" and "men of renown," the image of a giant is not of physical size, per se, but of prowess and power and domination. Think of ancient versions of Hitler, Pol Pot, or Mussolini. These were clans of ruling elites and god-kings. And it is they that God often commands to be utterly destroyed in hard biblical texts.

Then, in 1 Samuel 8, Israel asks for a king. Many modern readers assume that God simply has a problem with monarchies, yet the judges of ancient Israel occupied essentially a kingly type office and God does allow a monarchy later. The problem isn't one of polity or leadership models, but of what a king was in the ancient world. A king in the pagan nations was considered deity -- a hybrid of deity, a human father, and a human mother. Conception of ancient god-kings was often done through ceremonial sex in temples, which often had large orgy-purposed beds (leading to some of the size myths concerning giants).

Ritual sex was believed to use natural procreative means between a man and woman, with a spiritual union by a deity. Biblical and extra-biblical literature identifies the gods of the nations as actually fallen angels or demons, so in ritual sex, a man and woman mate with the invisible imparting of a demon to the union, so that the offspring were considered essentially demigods. These were the Nephilim or giants of the Bible... They were not brought about by fallen angels assuming physicality and then physically mating with women, but rather a spiritual envelopment. They present a spiritual oppression upon the offspring of pagan ritual sex. In essence, the demons lived through and procreated via human fallenness and the complete yielding over to demonic interest.

God did not want kings because they were cultic objects of worship and tyrants, not because kingly rule was bad. It is my bold belief that Donald Trump has been essentially such a cultic object or a Nephilim.

What?

Now, I doubt Trump's parents had some grandiose ritual orgy to conceive Trump. But just as Lord Baron's famous line says, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely," Trump is cut from a cloth of loose business practices, cut-throat dealing, and executive power. He is systemically rooted in power and his behaviors and rhetoric match, regardless of his base's attempts to overlook his extremes. The material nature Trump exudes parallels to the elitism and deification models of the Nephilim. His autocratic tendencies, coupled by a cult-like following of super-fans, put him to a level near worship that no other "living" president has had. "I Like Ike" type slogans and other admiration of presidents past does not even come close to the rabidness of Trump and MAGA adherents. His is a personality cult and his was/is as close to being a god-king as the Nephilim of the past.

Sadly, evangelicals have been near lock-step with Trump from the beginning. Modern American evangelicalism is a syncretistic form of Christianity and quickly becoming an out-right heresy of Christianity. So, I have no problem calling a spade a spade: Trump is a contemporary Nephilim and contemporary evangelicalism is frankly, heretical.
